health benefits of eggs

News flash: run to the nearest yolk, because whole eggs are an excellent source of essential vitamins and minerals to keep your diet on track!

protein and eggs

Yes, I said WHOLE eggs (not just whites).

Despite the talk of high cholesterol concerns, studies have shown that eating four egg yolks or fewer on a weekly basis hasn’t been found to increase your risk of heart disease.

3 facts to read faster than the time it takes to boil yourself an egg:

1. Eggs help you lose weight

One egg only has 70 calories and provides a well balanced ratio of fat and protein to make you feel fuller for longer. The protein in eggs also causes your body to release the hormone glucagon and, coupled with the vitamins contained within the yolk, boosts your body’s ability to release and use stored carbohydrates and fat. Burn baby burn!

2. Eggs maintain and build muscle

Each egg provides an average 7 grams of high quality protein, however its’ star quality is their high concentration of leucine. An amino acid that helps turn the protein in your meals, leucine not only assists in creating lean muscle mass but also improve recovery time in between work outs. For ideal results, your body responds best to at least 20 grams leucine (which is the equivalent of 3 eggs). In addition, eggs are a slow release protein source, making them perfect as a night time protein while you sleep to prevent muscle loss.

3. Eggs make you smarter

Okay, so you won’t turn into Einstein over night, but the choline and lecithin in eggs might improve brain function and regulate brain activity. What’s more, many eggs are now include healthy amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to help memory, enhance mood, and fight off cognitive disease.

So trade up the sugar-loaded waffles for orbs of goodness at the breakfast table today- just don’t dirty up the perfect breakfast food by adding deep fried hash browns and skip the white bread while you’re at it!

Bok bok bok (translation: get crackin’ and enjoy the weekend) love,

I admire your ability to eat them that way! I am still traumatized from childhood with my grandmother trying to force feed me barely cooked eggs lol I am shocked I even eat them today but I have them WELL done everyday! And you said it sista, good enough for Mr I’ll Be Back” it’s good enough for us πŸ™‚

  2. They’re my favorite too in the morning- half boiled so the yolk is still runny, yum! If whole eggs were good enough for Arnold, they’re good enough for us Eva πŸ˜‰

  3. Healthy Glow Nutrition

I eat eggs everyday, free-range only, yolks and all! Fat is not the enemy, empty carbs are πŸ™‚ Great post πŸ™‚ They are so versatile and so portable too!
